Science Fun !

We have started to investigate Science this week as part of our exploration topic.  We got messy and had lots of fun.

Tulip Planting

Room 19 have been looking after their school enviro patch.  This is the plant area by the plaque wall and the area outside Room 17.  We consulted with Wendy from Garden to Table and planted some tulips by the plaque wall.  Winter is the perfect time to plant them and we were very lucky to have Josh's mum come along to help.  We were not so lucky with the weather but the heavy rain held off long enough to plant the bulbs.

Buddy Sport

Last Thursday, Room 19 buddied up with a Year 2 class for Sport.  They got to use AKO with teaching and learning basketball skills and we all thoroughly enjoyed the session.

Fish!

It is coming to the end of Term 2 and Room 19 have begun to send in their persuasive letters to look after Jeff, Seaweed and our resident water snail. It is going to be a hard job to choose a winner!

Easter Art

We love art in Room 19 and yesterday saw us using dye and crayon to make Easter Egg patterns.  We also demonstrated our independent skills when we cleared up.  Our teacher is really proud of us as we can tidy away after art sessions without any direction from the teacher.  If only we were this tidy at home!

Investigating Fractions!

Room 19 have been looking at equal parts in fractions.  They investigated splitting different shapes into equal parts for quarters and came up with rules.

1. If the regular shape has an even number of sides it can be divided into quarters (no shape has 2 sides only).
2. If the regular shape has an odd number of sides it cannot be divided into quarters equally.
3.  Stars depended on the number of points not how many sides.  If they had an even number of points then they were divisible equally into quarters.

Room 19 Coding!

We have been learning about coding with Ms Taylor every Monday. We have been using programmes such as Kodable and Scratch and hve been working collaboratively on programming Mbots. Here are some snaps of our sessions.

Ako With Year 6!

The Year 6 came into our classroom to teach us a dance to a song we know. We really enjoyed this!

Practising Our Goals

We have been learning how to practise our goals and conference with a buddy to check how we are achieving our goals.
