Learning Goals

Here is a tool to help with your learning goals. There is a variety of games and tutorials that can be used in your independent learning time. Remember to check your goals on the beehives and ask your teacher to test you if you think you are ready to move to a new goal.

Multimedia

Multimedia

A few weeks ago we had our first multimedia session. On the first session we painted our backgrounds, mine was purple. We used sponges, combs and the things that look like long toothpicks. When we painted we didn't paint the same way we painted different ways to make texture.

On the second session we made something out of newspaper, I made a cupcake. Before we made our amazing things of art we sketched out a quick drawing of what we were going to do in our topic books.

After we sketched our art we drew parts of it onto the newspaper then we cut it out and used PVA glue to stick it to our backgrounds.

First I drew a cupcake wrapper onto my newspaper then I cut it out and stuck it on to my background. I then drew the rest of my cupcake and stuck it on to my background.

Then I finished gluing on the rest of my cupcake.

On the next session of multimedia I used a page from a magazine to make my cupcake wrapper colorful. I put some pastel on it to make it pop. We added glitter to make it look amazing.

Harold Life Education

Visiting Harold

On Thursday Room 17 and 19, went to Life Education and met Harold the giraffe. We were learning about feelings and how we can help people with bad feelings. We watched a video about Harold's friend Billy, moving house and going to a new school.

In the beginning Billy was put with a boy that only cared about himself. Billy tried to play with other people, but they said 'there was already too many people playing'. Then billy walked over to a chair and sat down. Just then a ball rolled over to his feet, and a boy about the same age as billy, jogged over and grabbed the ball. 'Thanks,' said the boy, 'my name's Sam, what's yours'. 'My name's Billy,' said Billy, 'Wanna play, we're short on players?' asked Sam. 'What are you playing?' asked Billy. 'Rugby,' replied Sam. 'Okay,' said Billy, 'great,' said Sam. 'Rugby is the best' said Billy. Sam and Billy jogged off onto the field and had the best game ever.

At the end of the video, we talked about who was a leader and who was a boss. Finally the lady looking after Harold handed the Life Education books to our teachers, and we got them in the afternoon. It was great to meet Harold.

Creativity Workshops

In Room 18 we have been doing writing workshops and art workshops. In the art workshops there were five choices: multimedia, panting, salt dough, printmaking, science. In the panting workshop we learnt that if we mix red and yellow =orange and we also learnt about a artist called Hundertwasser who uses bright colors and then his art goes on building to make people feel happy. It also makes the mall look colourful.

We have been also been doing Phonics, Handwriting and Spelling rules workshops. In Maths we have been learning  to solve some very hard problems and some not as hard.

Multimedia Art Workshop

This week was session two of our collaborative art/topic swap.  Last week the Multimedia group painted their backgrounds using the techniques that we learned. We mixed colours and added white to get the right shade and used different equipment such as combs, sponges and spoons to add texture in the paint.

In today's workshop we looked at using magazines to create an image that contrasted with our beautiful textured backgrounds.

Tomorrow is our last session and we are looking forward to adding the finishing touches to our masterpieces!

Year 3 Collaborative Art Workshops

For our school wide concept of Creativity, Year 3 is looking at creative environments. We have been set the challenge by Mr Aukett to design a new marble run for the area opposite the lower courts. Each teacher is teaching an art or science skill and the children have signed up for a workshop that they are interested in. The workshops are: painting, mulitmedia, printmaking, sculpture and physics (forces involved in a marble run). Then children who have learned different skills will collaborate to use their new skills and knowledge to design a marble run as a group.  We will then submit our designs to Mr Ayson and he will choose the best one to action!
